Big ticket London

A big red bus took us into the general direction of Piccadilly this morning, from where we found our way to Trafalgar Square............

.... and then a walk through Admiralty Arch and down The Mall, admiring the intense green lawns and flowering trees  in St James Park, until we reached Buckingham Palace, just in time to see the end of the Changing of the Guard.

I need to acknowledge that the beautiful photographs below were taken by Joel, using his mobile phone camera (and his height) to capture some beautiful images of this most cheesy and touristy (and crowded) of London locations.

Rob took the pic below - which proves we really were there!

We then kept on walking East along Constitution Hill - flanked by the slightly wilder meadow plantings in Green Park.

....crossing Duke of Wellington Place until we found our way onto Knightsbridge Road.  Ros and I really enjoyed the opportunities for window shopping here, and Joel managed to do some serious actual shopping at the very well stocked Hugo Boss on Brompton Road.

Of course every London tourist must check out Harrods.

Making our way back towards Hyde Park we found a nice little pub (Paxtons Head) and enjoyed an 'arf pint of English beer as we recovered some of our energies....while Joel taught us a few more mobile phone camera techniques.

I thought I did well in this shot - capturing the red phone booths, the double decker bus, the Harrods building and a London taxi all together on Brompton Road at the same time!
